Resources of Heaven
Today's Scripture
“We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” - 1 John 3:16-18 NASB.
Thoughts for Today
The Bible makes it clear: In everything, Jesus is to be our example. As we follow Him, we realize that He was motivated by love. He demonstrated this love by laying down His life for us.
Even though “He existed in the form of God,” He still “emptied Himself” and “humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death” (Philippians 2:6-8). As the Son of God, He had the power and resources of Heaven, yet He laid down everything to bring salvation to the world.
We follow His example when we realize that God blesses us that we might bless others (Genesis 12:2). As our Father, He delights to bless us and bring us success. Then, as we follow Jesus, we need to be ready “to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
If we have the “world’s goods,” we’re to be ready to help others. In fact, we show that God’s love abides in our hearts by how we respond to the needs of others. We are to show this love “in deed and truth.”
Today, realize that God longs to bless you. He is “able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). He’s also looking at the condition of your heart. Are you motivated by selfishness or by love? Do you just think about yourself or are you concerned with others? Do you truly seek first His Kingdom? Can you be trusted to be responsible with the resources He gives you?
Follow Jesus’ example, and lay down your life!
Prayer : Our Loving Heavenly Father, show me how I can bless others with the blessings You have given me. Give me compassion, and a passion for Souls. I commit my life to You. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."
Have a Blessed Friday and God Bless you.
