Proclaim Liberty to the Captives - Tuesday's Dose - 28th February 2017

“When He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: ‘The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me…to proclaim liberty to the captives.” – Luke 4:17-18 NKJV.

Thoughts for Today

There are many things that can hold us captive. We can be obsessed with the lusts of the flesh or the craving for pleasure or power. Maybe we can’t escape the hold of bad habits. We can be trapped in abusive relationships or wracked by emotional trauma or stress. We can feel the weight of financial needs or the pressures of a job. We can be in situations for which we feel inadequate. We can be overwhelmed with worry or fear.

But Jesus said the Spirit of the Lord was on Him because He was sent to “proclaim liberty to the captives.” He came to proclaim liberty in every area of our lives and for every kind of captivity: mental and physical, political and financial, emotional and spiritual.

If we feel that we’ve been captive to destructive habits, thoughts, or relationships, we need to realize that Jesus came to free us. If we feel we’re imprisoned to a job, a financial burden, or an emotional turmoil, we need to see Jesus as the One who was sent to release us from bondage. If we are under the weight of guilt, doubt, or worry, we need to know that Jesus came to forgive and pardon us from our sins.

Today, ask God to show you if there are things that have captured your thoughts and emotions. Do not allow yourself to remain a prisoner. Jesus came to provide you with liberty and freedom.

Allow Him to set you free! You don’t have to wait any longer.

Turn to Him. Cry out to Him. He is able, ready, and waiting to help you. Right now!

Prayer : Our Loving Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus came that I might be freed from burdens. I commit these needs to You: __________. Thank You that I can trust You. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Have a Blessed Tuesday and God Bless you.
